I don’t think this election was about President Obama’s agenda but more about the economy. Let’s face it, we had bullies screaming at town hall meetings month after month at the beginning of the year. They shouted down speakers who were trying to explain to voters what was in the health care package. This group of shouting bullies is a mix of today’s Tea Party and Republicans which have agendas of their own and it’s not what most Americans want. The Tea Party was so extreme most of the time that they got way too much coverage by the mainstream media and even more from Fox News.
This loud Tea Party group helped the Republicans sell to the American people that President Obama had some far-out Socialist agenda. This is so funny when you think about it, but sad how easiy people can be sold a bill of goods. The health care plan that was passed was the earlier idea of Bob Dole, a Republican. Why didn’t people call Bob Dole a Socialist when he first suggested it? Republicans just don’t like Obama because he’s fighting against the good old boy network in Washington that many politicians have enjoyed year after year.
The Republicans sold America with a bunch of loud mouths on bus tours and news shows across the country. They were saying crazy things from time to time and that kept getting more and more attention. It was like free advertising. People like Sarah Palin were yelling out one-liners that sounded good like “Let’s take America Back!” Back from what? Back from the people who elected President Obama? President Obama did not make our economy go down the toilet all by himself. That started well before he was even elected. He wasn’t planning on bailing out American companies. This all happened right as President Bush was giving Obama the keys to the White House.
The agenda that President Obama campaigned on was health care reform, not help save the American auto industry or big banks. Republicans convinced gullible Americans with the help of the Tea Party that somehow President Obama was taking America over and this was planned all along.
The Tea Party was a great advertising company for the Republican right wing. I think that President Obama and the Democrats need to hire the Gecko to be their ad spokesman from this point on. President Obama needs someone to get the facts to the American people and dispel all the right wing myths that people now believe are true.
