Never stop fighting

Regarding President Barack Obama's statement that gays and lesbians should be allowed to marry, the one letter writer asked, "Where do 'rights' stop?"
The answer is obvious: The call for equal rights under the law never stops.
To stop that fight would be to betray what the United States of America claims to stand for, as written in the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." The writer also said he "prays for America to follow the principles on which our country was founded." Considering the statement above, it seems our founding documents make it clear that the fight for equality is fundamental to our existence. So it seems that we are, indeed, following the principles the author refers to.
