2012 Election For President Remember History

Pay attention to history
BY SUSAN MORRISON

In response to a recent AP analysis, "GOP hopes lumbering economy dooms Obama," I offer this observation: It takes an oak tree at least 30 years to grow to maturity but only 20 minutes to cut it down.
President Obama is one of the most intelligent presidents Americans have been blessed with. He has an innate awareness of foreign affairs and world leaders respect him. He has worked with King Hussein of Jordan to achieve a lasting peace in the Middle East. Before the insurgencies that rocked several countries in that area, there looked to be a better chance of attaining this goal. We will have to wait and see, but that is no reflection on our president.
The economy's woes were not created by him. people apparently have incredibly short memories if they cannot remember when, why and by whom this state of affairs was initiated. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have cost trillions with a white-washed sentiment to shove democracy down foreign throats. War benefits nobody but suppliers of materiel, from uniforms to munitions. I think a major share of the blame should be laid at the feed of President Obama's predecessors as well as the ongoing corporate greed at the expense of all Americans.
I dread elections. Too often, we think with our emotions rather than our intellects. Citizens pay the ultimate price for this absurdity. Please, can we make a concerted effort to remember recent history and vote for the best choice we have?
