Romney/Ryan/Republicans And No Tax Tea Party

If you're older you probably remember the old cigarette ad “I would rather fight than switch” for Tareyton. Well it looks like once again Mitt Romney wants to be president so bad he would rather give in to the far right of the Republican party rather than fight. I mean give me a break, Mitt, everything you once stood for has been thrown out the window. Now with his choice for VP it's just one more swing to the far, far right of what used to be a pretty balanced Republican Party. It looks like the extreme right wing is pretty much taking control of the GOP and the only thing that might save the Grand Old Party is an election where the Obama team wins big in November. This Tea Party elected group of Representatives has already caused gridlock in Washington and cost America its triple A credit rating.

Many from this far right group of the Tea Party Republicans are for less government but yet don't seem to have a problem taking tax dollars for all kinds of voucher programs. Vouchers for private schools, vouchers for Medicare, Medicaid and also Social Security. This same kind of thinking includes the idea of privatized prisons, which in many states now cost more to run than our state and federal prison systems.

Almost all Republicans have signed Grover Norquist's no new tax pledge which is killing the America we grew up in. Back in the 50's and 60's people paid a fair tax rate which helped keep many programs alive and well in this country. Today with this its all mine mentality across the land many people are being hit harder and harder with extra fees. The taxpayers years ago almost always voted to fund public schools. Today it seems many people say I don't have kids in school and I don't want to pay for it in my taxes. The younger family keeps getting hit with more and more fees when their children attend school. Someone paid taxes for you to get an education and you and the rest of us should be doing the same. The no new tax pledge is a pledge that affects all Americans but it's hurting the poor and the middle class the most.

Just today I was reading the Sunday paper and saw an ad for Florida Republican Representative John Mica. The first thing he had in his ad was no new taxes. With everything costing every one us more each year, how can we expect to run a country with people who just flat out refuse to ever increase revenue?

It's time we Americans get back to paying a fair rate of taxes and drop all these extra fees. We should all worry about helping educate children, taking care of infrastructure, health care, keeping Social Security strong along with Medicare and Medicaid.

Tell the Republicans to stop kidding the American people about high taxes. Look at what we used to pay in the 50's and 60's. The Republicans' promise to never raise taxes is a joke.
