We all heard Mitt Romney say that if he gets elected president he will cut off funding to PBS and Big Bird. Big bird has become an icon with most children growing up in America. Studies show that this bird has helped children get a great start on early education. Defunding PBS is just another one of those things on the Republican hit list to tear down in America. Some say defunding PBS won’t hurt Big Bird. Yes and no is the answer. Some PBS stations get half their funding from the government. If those stations don’t have enough funding to stay on the air you can say Romney killed the big lovable yellow bird in parts of America.

What do Republicans have against Public Broadcasting? Even though PBS is a very small part of the government’s budget the GOP has been after it for years. They don’t like hearing the truth that PBS spreads on the air waves. The Republicans would love to have the world all tune into Fox News so they can control what everyone hears.

So yes a vote for Romney is in a way a vote to kill the big yellow bird that so many of us love.
